Background and Experience
Claire is a UKCP registered Integrative Pyschotherapist and is currently in the final stages of completing a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at the Metanoia Institute.
Claire has worked in a variety of professional settings, starting her career on an in-patient adolescent eating disorder unit. She then moved into a community-based Outreach team, working with 'Looked after Children' and troubled families. Within this work, she offered a range of individual and group work with both young people and their caregivers. She has completed a parenting course and has worked with many parents who are struggling with their own personal difficulties and the challenges of being a parent. She has worked with several female survivors of domestic abuse.
Alongside her private practice, she currently works within a local Child and Adolescent Mental Health Team. Claire is available to offer individual support to adolescents and adults.
Integrative Approach
Using the Integrative Approach Claire's approach to therapy and to understanding human behaviour, is informed by several theoretical influences, rather than one specific orientation. The benefit of this approach is that it enables the therapy to be tailored to each individual, offering a flexible and creative therapy.
Claire can also use creative methods of communication within her work, such as the use of puppets, music and art to enable clients to express their feelings when words cannot be found. Claire also draws upon elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, when deemed appropriate.
Claire has experience working with the following difficulties: Depression, Anxiety, Self harm, Unresolved issues of past trauma, Parenting difficulties, Low self esteem and Relationship difficulties.
