Massage: Japanese Facial

What Is Japanese Face Massage?

The Japanese believe that beauty is more than skin deep, and that to be beautiful you have to be healthy to. The fantastic thing about Japanese Face massage is that it works on many levels at the same time. For instance, by working superficially we improve skin tone and lymph flow. By working with the musculature at a deeper level we can affect muscle tone and general appearance.

Working with the meridians that run through the face we can affect the balance of health in the whole body, as well as the flow of ki specifically in the face. Many of the techniques can help to prevent lines, wrinkles and puffiness - a natural face lift!

Why facial massage?

The face is a complex network of muscles which are used constantly. Smiling, chewing, laughing, speaking, sneezing, yawning, all cause facial muscles to contract. As a result the facial muscles are in almost constant use and begin to collect tension. Eventually this causes constriction of muscle tissue and decreased circulation to the surface tissues. When blood is unable to circulate properly through these tissues, the facial tissue near the surface begins to die, and begins to lose its natural elasticity.
