About Reflexology:

The treatment will begin with a consultation form to complete – which enables Louise to deduce if there are any medical/psychological issues.  The session can then be tailored to meet your individual needs and any information which you disclose will remain confidential.
Reflexology is not claiming to diagnose or cure – but there are a number of benefits which in turn aid certain conditions and provide a feeling of deep relaxation.

What is Reflexology?

The principles are based upon the theory that different areas of the feet (or hands), relate to corresponding parts of the body.  Pressure is applied and adjusted accordingly, depending on levels of sensitivity.  The treatment is relaxing and not painful by any means – in fact, many clients  often fall asleep during the session!  Reflexology can help balance the mind and body to maintain health and well-being. The overwhelming feeling of calmness can reduce stress and provide tension release, which can result in improved sleeping patterns.   Relaxing the body can help with back, neck and shoulder pain as this is where a number of people carry their stress.

What happens when I go for a treatment?

Following the initial consultation, your practitioner will ensure that you feel comfortable.  A blanket is offered as sometimes body temperature drops as relaxation gets underway.  Relaxing music is played (unless you would prefer it to be quiet), as this often helps clients to ‘switch off’ from the stresses which they are experiencing.  Clients are free to chat to the practitioner if they wish to – but many like the opportunity to rest in peace and often go to sleep!

Clients are asked to remove their shoes and socks for this non-invasive treatment.  Louise cleans their feet with a wet-wipe after sanitising her hands and then records a health assessment in order that any changes can be recorded with relation to future treatments.  The Reflexologist can detect subtle changes on areas of the feet and can spend more time working on these as required.

Hand Reflexology

Louise is trained to provide hand Reflexology.  This is particularly useful if the feet are infected or verrucae cover large areas of the feet.  Other reasons that it may be preferable are that the foot is broken/in a cast and some people feel embarrassed by their feet or find them ticklish! Arthritis can cause structural pain in the feet and tender/stiff fingers may benefit from this relaxing therapy.

Who can benefit from Reflexology?

Reflexology is suitable for all ages, from children to the elderly and  pregnant ladies following the first trimester (12 weeks).  Clients who have had heart conditions; depression; strokes and cancer can be treated, although it may be advisable to consult with your Medical Practitioner if you are unsure if the treatment is suitable for you.

Reflexology does not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribed.
